Reichstag (Parliament in Berlin)

The Reichstag has been the seat of the German Bundestag (Federal Republic of Germany) since 1999 and stands for the political changes, upheavals and dramatic events in 20th-century Germany. In 1894, after ten years of construction, the building was completed in the style of a historicism popular at the end of the 19th century. The eclectic mix of Renaissance, Baroque and Classicism was badly damaged during the Second World War. From 1991 to 1998, the building was restored by British architect Sir Norman Foster and fitted with a spectacular, walk-in glass dome.
