Works exhibited

Salvador Dalí – one of the most talented artists of the modern era, who staged his works and himself in the most spectacular ways. “Surrealism for all” – this is the spirit in which over 450 of the original exhibits of this enigmatic personality are permanently on view in our museum at Potsdamer Platz. This institutional cultural highlight provides visitors with the most comprehensive insight into Dalí’s virtuoso and experimental mastery of almost all art techniques, right in the center of Berlin.

Neue mythologische Folge

1971

New Mythology Suite

12 Dry Point Etchings with Pochoir

Salvador Dalí quoted in the Suite Mythologique Nouvelle paintings of the old masters from Germany, France and Italy.
In this way, the universal genius Dalí is not only competing with these Renaissance artists but also shows his deep knowledge of art history within this series.

Pantagruels drollige Träume

1973

Pantagruel's Comical Dreams

25 Lithographs (without single titles)

The French Benedictine monk François Rabelais (1494-1553) published a five-part novel cycle with the title Gargantua et Pantagruel in the 16th century. The literary work contains fantastical stories and anecdotes with much irony and humour. Dalí embellished further motifs which were already obscene in the original.

Zehn Rezepte zur Unsterblichkeit

1973

Ten Recipes for Immortality

Dry Point Etchings with Heliogravures and Three-Dimensional Objects

This series was published under the French title Dix Recettes de l'immortatlité. It contains, among other things, the first stereoscopic graphic in art history. All single works were originally contained in a special plexiglas case designed by Dalí, which has a telephone receiver as a handle and locks in the form of fried eggs.

Die Gelben Liebschaften

1974

Les Amours Jaunes

10 Dry Point Etchings with Gold Dust

Dalís ten dry point etchings with gold overlay illustrate the poems "Les Amours Jaunes" of Tristan Corbière. The technique Dalí developed to refine the image into ornament with 24 carat gold dust makes this work a sought-after collector's item. The gold serves to emphasize the erotic components and to glamorise voyeurism which are contained in Corbières poems.

Nach 50 Jahren Surrealismus

1974

After 50 Years of Surrealism

12 Dry Point Etchings

With the series After 50 Years of Surrealism, Salvador Dalí illustrated his own life on the occasion of the opening of his museum Teatro Museo Gala Dalí in Figueras, Spain.

Die 12 Apotel - Ritter der Tafelrunde

1977

The 12 Apostles - Knights of the Round Table

12 Color Lithographs with Woodcut

In order to achieve better sales on the art market this series was published with two different titles: on the one hand Knights of the Round Table and for the strictly Catholic Spain The 12 Apostles. It is really impressive how every single image by Dalí seems to fit in both stories.
